By train to Budapest Ferihegy Airport (BUD)from July

Máv announced that it starts building a train stop at Ferihegy 1 and an overpass to connect the stop with the terminal. This way the airport will be only 22 minutes away from Nyugati Railway station.
Budapest's Ferihegy international airport will finally be accessible by train from July but instead of being served by a dedicated express, it will be only a stop for the regular train connecting Budapest with south-east Hungary, the daily Magyar Nemzet reported today.
The construction of a train stop at Ferihegy Terminal 1 is underway and according to an earlier announcement by the national railways company Máv, it will be completed on May 8. EU funding has enabled Máv to modernize the Ferencváros-Vecsés stretch of its Budapest-Lökösháza service and to build two platforms and a passenger overpass at Ferihegy.
Trains are expected to operate on the line every 30 minutes from July and Ferihegy airport will be accessible from Budapest's Western (Nyugati) railway station in 22 minutes. Máv said that ticket prices would be on a par with the cost of public transport.
Last year, Minister Economy and Transport János Kóka said that an express service would be established between central Budapest and Ferihegy airport in two or three years. However, there are no further details available about this project, the paper said. (Magyar Nemzet)

Ferihegy terminal 1 rail-link with city centre launched
Budapest, July 14 (MTI) - Hungarian railways MAV opened a new railway station at Ferihegy Airport Terminal 1 on Saturday, creating a railway link from the airport to the city centre.
Starting on Monday, trains will stop at the airport's Terminal 1, and will take passengers to Budapest Nyugati railway station at normal rail tariffs, CEO of MAV Istvan Heinczinger told MTI.
Plans are that fast-moving InterCity trains from the direction of Cegled, SE of Budapest, will also stop at Ferihegy.
Ferihegy operator Budapest Airport started work near the new station in December last year, including doubling parking space for cars to 570 and building the pavement on the passageway to the station.
The project received 21.3 million euros of funding from the European Union Cohesion Fund.

Brussel decides on funding for Budapest metro line 4
A decision was made in Brussels about the subsidy provided to the construction of the Budapest metro line 4.
EU support may go up to Ft 200 billion ($1,11 billion), which is 50% of total subsidy dedicated to infrastructural development. However, obtaining the full extent of allocation may not be that easy, as the project was not included in the transportation operative program, and decision-makers in Brussels need to be persuaded that the new metro line will in fact improve efficiency of city transportation in the claimed extent.
The investment was planned to use funds from European Development Bank, but then shifted to apply for a non repayable grant in the framework of New Hungary development plan. 79% cost of the construction is covered by the budget, and the rest by the local government of Budapest. The €1.2 billion credit provided by the European Development Bank could still be used, €500-600 million ($680-820 million) could be allocated for the construction of line 4.
The national plan for 2007 to 2013 allocates a total Ft 630 billion ($3,5 billion) for development of city and suburban public transportation. (Magyar Hirlap)
